D1.3 - Detailed cost of good analysis and safety assessment of the isolation for the 4 model systems
The merits and flaws of the supercritical CO2 extraction technique and the two-phase sample preparation protocols have been evaluated. Critical attention was given to evaluating the two systems in terms of laboratory safety, possible environmental hazards, costs and procedural limits. Both procedures provide comparable safety and efficacy. A detailed analysis of the applicability of each procedure and the potential issues that may require further investigation was assembled. Neither the supercritical CO2 extraction technique nor the two-phase sample preparation procedure present complications that would prevent compliance to the existing European or North American regulation. Environmental concerns and required safety measures were addressed and observed to be minimal.
