D 2.2 - Microfluidic based separation cartridge module

The SMART-NANO consortium made significant progress towards an upgraded, cost effective AF4 separation system to be used in combination with the miniaturized FFF cartridges under development within the project. A miniaturized separation cartridge module (including a novel Split technology) and a clamping system was developed and tested. The test measurements were based on the supplied 4 model system samples. The measurements showed that the microfluidic based separation cartridge module increases the sensitivity of the system by a factor of four and more. A disposable microfluidic based separation cartridge module was also demonstrated showing in detail show the size distribution of ENP suspensions.
