D3.1 - Sub-System Prototype for On-chip in-line Light Scattering

The SMART-NANO consortium developed a sensitive Multi-Angle Light Scattering (MALS) module for the detection of nanoparticles. The system was demonstrated with in-line light scattering measurements of water samples containing titanium dioxide, silver and gold nanoparticles. The advantages of the system are the compact optical design, the highly sensitive measurement system, the cost-effective design and easily replaceable flow-through cartridge. In the coming weeks, the MALS detection system will be made available to the SMART-NANO project partners for further testing.
